Unsung Hero of Hindu Community

 

There are thousands of people work tirelessly in the service of others voluntarily. One such individual is Vinod Mathurdas Kotecha who provides volunteer bereavement services to families who are in need of support during one of the hardest times of their lives.

Mr Kotecha, popularly known as Vinoo Kotecha was born in Kenya and has worked in the property and wholesale market. However, his big passion is volunteering and raising awareness in Hinduism, especially amongst the new generations.

He is associated with a number of charitable institutions such as Maa Saraswati Spiritual Centre; Lions Club of London Kingsbury and Apna Ghar, a charitable organisation in Valsad, Gujarat, which has several services, including, an orphanage, elderly care and tiffin seva.

He is also a Sports Chairperson of the Lohana community, North London for the past 12 years and a chairman of the bereavement committee. Kotecha has a number of awards and recognition including the Lohana award and NCGO award both for his community services.

For his services to the community, Mr Kotecha received the British Empire Medal in 2017.
